On October 23rd, 2016 I’m going to be biking 90 km in the Bowral Classic through the Southern Highlands of NSW. 

 

My love for marine life goes way way back before I can remember. I studied marine biology back in high school, and I never imagined that I would have the chance to visit the Great Barrier Reef. The opportunity to move to Australia presented itself about 4 years ago, and then shortly thereafter it turned into a permanent move, which opened the door to many more travel options. Visiting the Great Barrier Reef for the first time last year was absolutely incredible. It was even more stunning in person than I had imagined, surpassing every expectation. I fell in love with every single adorable fish and turtle. 

 

The reef today is disapearring at an alarming rate due to the effects of global warming; I just want to help in any way possible. I chose this organization in the hopes that getting people involved in monitoring the health of the reef, will encourage them to pressure their resptive leaders to take steps to limit global warming and the resulting damage to the reef. 

 

My training will start 3 months before the ride date! I will be biking anywhere from 75km - 200km over the course of a week.
